About Retina
The retina is the multi-layered tissue lining the back of the eye. This part of the eye captures light rays and converts them into images. When the delicate retinal tissue becomes damaged because of injury or disease, the eye loses its ability to convert light into images, which may significantly reduce vision.
Most often early detection and treatment may prevent vision loss and preserve eye health. Our dedicated retina specialists are experienced in early diagnosis and effective treatment of a range of retinal diseases including macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and retinal detachment. Schedule a consultation and receive a complete evaluation of your eye health, as well as expert advice on the most appropriate treatment.
Retina Services
Macular Degeneration
Our vision is made possible through the interactive parts of a highly complex visual system. The retina, a light sensitive area in the back of the eye, is part of that system.
Diabetic Retinopathy
Diabetic retinopathy is an eye condition that can cause vision loss and blindness in people who have diabetes. It affects blood vessels in the retina (the light-sensitive layer of tissue in the back of your eye).
Retinal Tear / Detachment
A torn retina is a severe eye problem that can cause your vision to become blurry. It often leads to a more serious condition called a Detached Retina.
Epiretinal Membrane
An epiretinal membrane is a thin layer of scar tissue that develops on the surface of the retina. These membranes, which often develop after a vitreous separation related to aging, are common and often do not cause any problems.
