Next-Generation Vision Correction - Light Adjustable Lens™ (LAL®)
We are proud to offer Light Adjustable Lens™ (LAL®) from RxSight, which is the first and only intraocular lens that allows surgeons to adjust lens power after cataract surgery, enabling unmatched refractive precision and patient-specific outcomes.
Unlike traditional IOLs that rely on preoperative predictions, the LAL shifts critical decision-making to the postoperative period, when refractive outcomes can be measured and refined.
This revolutionary system combines AI-driven imaging, precision laser technology, and a robotic-assisted, streamlined surgical workflow to deliver a safer, faster, and more customized vision correction experience.
- Standard cataract surgery with LAL implantation
- Healing period allows refractive stabilization
- In-office UV light treatments adjust lens power
- Final “lock-in” treatment sets the prescription permanently
The First and Only Lens That Can Be Adjusted After Surgery
The LAL is composed of photosensitive material that responds to controlled UV light exposure delivered by the Light Delivery Device (LDD™).
The Light Adjustable Lens is made from a special material that responds to ultraviolet (UV) light, allowing your doctor to adjust the shape and focusing power of the lens after it’s placed in your eye.
Using a device called the Light Delivery Device™ (LDD™), your doctor applies this light in a quick, non-invasive treatment to fine-tune your vision and align it with your personalized prescription.
- UV light induces polymer redistribution within the lens
- This changes lens curvature and refractive power
- Adjustments can be made to sphere and cylinder
- Final lock-in polymerizes remaining macromers

How the Light Adjustable Lens Process Works
Cataract Surgery
Your doctor removes your clouded natural lens and replaces it with the Light Adjustable Lens. The procedure is similar to standard cataract surgery and is typically quick and outpatient.
Healing & Vision Assessment
Over the next few weeks, your eye heals and your vision begins to stabilize. During this time, you’ll wear special UV-protective glasses and start evaluating how you see in your daily life.
Customized Light Adjustments
Your doctor uses a specialized light device to gently adjust the lens inside your eye. These quick, painless treatments fine-tune your vision based on your preferences and how your eyes respond.
Final Lock-In
Once you’re happy with your vision, your doctor performs final treatments to lock in your results. After this step, your lens is permanently set.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does the Light Adjustable Lens work?
The lens is made from a special material that responds to UV light. After your eye heals from surgery, your doctor can use a light treatment to adjust the lens and fine-tune your vision.
What should I expect after cataract surgery?
Your vision may not be perfect right away. Over the following weeks, you’ll work with your doctor to adjust your vision based on how you’re actually seeing in everyday life.
Why do I need to wear special glasses after surgery?
You’ll be given UV-protective glasses to wear during the adjustment period. These protect the lens from unintended light exposure, which could otherwise change your vision in an uncontrolled way.
How long do I have to wear the protective glasses?
Most patients wear them during all waking hours for several weeks, typically until about a day after the final light treatment.
How many light treatments will I need?
Most patients need between 1–3 adjustment treatments, followed by additional treatments to lock in the final result.
Are the light treatments painful?
No—treatments are quick, non-invasive, and typically take only a few minutes in your doctor’s office.
What happens after each light treatment?
Your vision may be temporarily blurry right after treatment, but it usually improves within a day as your eyes adjust.
Can I go back to normal activities after surgery?

Most normal activities can be resumed, but you’ll need to follow your doctor’s instructions—especially avoiding strong UV light (like tanning beds) and wearing your protective glasses consistently.
Will indoor lights or screens affect my lens?
Common indoor lighting like LED, fluorescent lights, and screens do not affect the lens. However, you should still wear your protective glasses as directed.
