Frequently Asked Questions
What type of eye problems can LASIK correct?
LASIK can correct astigmatism, nearsightedness, and farsightedness.
Am I a good candidate for LASIK?
If you are older than 18 years old, your vision has been stable for two years, and you don’t have any medical conditions that may inhibit normal healing, you are probably a good candidate.
How does the type of technology affect my LASIK outcome?
Only the most up-to-date technology includes the lowest energy lasers that create a precise corneal flap and incorporates mapping technology to ensure the most customized treatment.
What will be my recovery time after LASIK?
We suggest very mild activity for the first 48 hours. After 48 hours, you may resume normal activities. Exclude water sports and contact sports for approximately two weeks after your LASIK procedure.
Is LASIK safe?
Most patients who have LASIK with Dr. Loden or his team no longer need glasses or contacts for most activities. However, for those patients who are over 40, you may still need to wear reading glasses for up close and/or intermediate vision. This is due to a condition known as presbyopia, or aging of the eye, which is a part of the natural aging process regardless of whether or not you've had LASIK.
The goal of LASIK is to reduce your dependence on glasses and contacts, although it's not uncommon for Loden Vision Centers LASIK patients to see better than they ever had before. We cannot promise "perfect" vision and those patients over the age of 40 will still need to wear reading glasses due to the normal aging process of the eye. To achieve the best visual result, it is extremely important to choose the most experienced surgeon you can find, who uses the most advanced FDA-approved technology.
As with all surgical procedures, there are risks involved. In the hands of a highly trained, experienced surgeon using the most advanced technology, LASIK is a very safe procedure. Loden Vision Centers is pleased to offer our patients state-of-the-art VISX Star S4 technology, the IntraLase IFS™ laser, and CustomVue™ as part of the advanced all-laser LASIK procedure.
