Physician Bio:
Dr. Irene Ludwig is widely known for her innovative new technologies in adult and children’s eye surgery. She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Ophthalmological Society, the American Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, and the Costenbader Society, and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Her accomplishments in pediatric ophthalmology include lecturing at scientific meetings and publishing several ophthalmological papers. In 2016, Dr. Ludwig was named recipient of the David S. Friendly Honor Award by the Costenbader Society, Inc. Recipients are selected for their contributions to children, society, science, and ophthalmology.
Dr. Ludwig also has other areas of research interest, including the connection between strabismus and sinus disease, improved surgical techniques for superior oblique palsy, and a new approach to repairing diplopia caused by facial trauma. Dr. Ludwig’s research has been published in textbook and eBook format by Thieme, and is titled “Strabismus Surgery, Innovative and Classic Approaches."
